Site Location
Proposed Development
The Proposed Development consist of a 10-year planning permission for the construction of a solar PV farm, including all the associated ancillary development, and for the 40-year operation.
The Proposed Development will result in increased renewable electrical capacity, which will, in turn, reduce the utilisation of fossil fuels within the national power grid. Given the Irish Government’s commitment to decarbonising the electricity network in Ireland, this development represents a positive step towards that goal. The Proposed Development will also contribute to meeting the national greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets and have a positive effect on climate change.
The future 110kV on-site substation will form a separate planning application via the SID planning process with An Coimisiun Pleanála (ACP).
Site Layout
The initial layout of the Proposed Development, as illustrated above, covers an area of 270 hectares, with an estimated export capacity of approximately 125MW.
Comprehensive Environmental and Engineering reports are being undertaken. Various assessments have been undertaken and will be submitted as part of the planning application including EIA Screening Report, Natura Impact Statement (‘NIS’) and Preliminary Construction Environmental Management Plan (‘pCEMP’). There has also been a comprehensive noise assessment and glint and glare assessment undertaken. All this information will be available to view on the Kerry County Council Planning Portal.
Community Benefit Fund
If the solar farm is granted planning permission, Regnum is committed to setting up a community benefit package to support local clubs and projects that will benefit the residents living closest to the project. We will collaborate closely with the community to customise this financial support package, placing local individuals at the forefront of decision-making regarding its implementation and impact.
