The permitted site is located in Somerset, approximately 6.5 km south of Ballinasloe, County Galway.
The permitted development is within a total site area of 3.02 hectares and will involve the construction of one electrical substation building, one main transformer and associated switchgear, 31 containerised battery storage units and associated heating, ventilation, air conditioning, inverters, and transformers on concrete support structures, stoned compound area, access tracks and site entrance, grid connection to existing ESB 110kV Somerset Electricity Substation and associated electrical cabling and ducting, post and rail perimeter fencing, security gates, palisade perimeter security fencing, CCTV security monitoring system, new hedging and landscaping works and all associated ancillary site infrastructure.
